Welcome from the Headmaster

King's College India

Welcome From the Headmaster

“The Best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others” – Mahatma Gandhi

Dear Parents, Students, Staff and the King’s College community.

It gives me the greatest sense of humility and pleasure to be able to finally be able to communicate with you all in my role as the Head of King’s College. I am humbled by the opportunity to serve the whole school community into the near and distant future and excited at the prospect of nurturing growth wherever possible.

After 25 years in the teaching profession – having taught English Language, English Literature and History to lower Secondary, upper Secondary and A-Level; having been a middle leader, a Deputy Head, a national and international curriculum developer and as a Principal and Head I am confident in saying that my career has been geared towards serving as Head of King’s College. I am excited at the prospect of working with an amazing team of teachers, pupils, parents, administrators, Board members, ancillary staff and the community at large. I believe that a collaborative approach to learning represents the gold standard for any learner and the greater the levels of interaction and collaboration, the higher the chances of every child achieving beyond that which they may think they are capable of.

It is the greatest of honours for any professional to be in a position to pass on one’s knowledge and experience, to help shape the lives of others, to inspire and to serve in a capacity to do good. This highest of honours has been bestowed upon me as the new Head of King’s College, India and it is with the greatest of humility and gratitude that I accept the role, with an inherent desire to serve and to be in a position to ensure that every child I serve matters, every child receives the best education possible and that every child, upon completion of studies at King’s College, is aware that they are fully prepared for a 21st century world.

For the students of King’s College, the school represents a clear vision for the future: success, open-mindedness, acceptance, humility, a sense of place in the world as well as a safe haven for nurturing growth, inquisitiveness, a desire to do and be more and a place where one’s opinion is heard, challenges accepted and futures forged. Of course, every child needs to ensure that they play their part – as well as the teaching staff, parents and whole community!

I will come to Indian shores not for the first time, having spent time in Mumbai as a teacher trainer for Cambridge, back in 2015. This was when my own desire to serve in India was cemented. Not only were the team of trainees incredibly professional but also dedicated, innovative, inquisitive, open to change and wholly child-centred. It has been a personal ambition of mine to serve out a significant part of my career in India.

I am a family man with two daughters (24 and 16 years of age) and I thoroughly enjoy the great outdoors, meeting new and interesting people, losing myself in a good book, cooking, playing and watching all kinds of sport and, of course, teaching!

I am waiting, with bated breath, to join the King’s College family at the tail end of this month, however I am aware that the school will, in all likelihood, resume in an online manner due to the recent COVID spike. In this regard, I shall be dropping in to several virtual classes, alongside meeting, virtually, all staff members to ensure that when I do arrive in person, I shall be able to hit the ground running, so to speak and to help build on the outstanding work undertaken by, in particular, Mr Surjeet Singh in his capacity as Deputy Head, as well as the teachers and all staff of King’s College.

For now, please stay safe during these turbulent times, take care of each other and hopefully we shall return to ‘normal’ as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely

Paul J. Page
