Safeguarding

The purpose of the safeguarding Commitment Statement

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. KCI is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students. We recognise our collective duty to provide a safe, secure, and supportive environment where every child feels protected, respected, and valued. All members of the school community share the responsibility to uphold the highest standards of care and vigilance to ensure the safety and well-being of every student at all times.

Safeguarding at KCI

Safeguarding is our highest priority at King’s College India (KCI). We are fully committed to protecting the welfare of children and young people and expect the same high standards from all members of our staff and wider school community. Safeguarding is embedded in all aspects of school life and decision-making, fostering a culture of care, vigilance, and shared accountability.

Safeguarding is essential because every student has the right to feel safe, secure, and protected. When students feel safe, they are better able to learn, build confidence, and develop positive wellbeing. Early identification of concerns allows timely support and intervention, helping to prevent harm and ensuring that students receive the care they need at the right time. By providing a safe and nurturing environment, we enable our students to focus on their learning and personal development.

We take a proactive and preventative approach to safeguarding, supported by strong systems, clear procedures, and effective reporting and recording processes. All safeguarding concerns are treated seriously and responded to promptly. Students are encouraged to seek support from trusted adults, and staff are trained to recognise and respond appropriately to signs of abuse, neglect, or vulnerability. Early identification of concerns enables timely intervention, helping to reduce risk and prevent harm.

Our safeguarding arrangements are further strengthened through clear policies, regular staff training, and robust safer recruitment practices. These include our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, Staff Code of Conduct, Online Safety Policy, and Behaviour and Anti-Bullying Policies, all of which are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain effective and up to date.

Our Designated Safeguarding team members are always available to address concerns and support families, ensuring our students thrive in a secure, nurturing environment.
