Academics Overview

Blending the best of British education with Indian learning, we offer an authentic British Independent School experience in India, placing equal importance on the development of the whole child, as well as academics. Our curriculum is embedded in our philosophy of student-centered holistic learning, truly preparing children for their future.

EYFS (or the Early Years and Foundation Stage) at King’s College India comprises the first three years of your child’s journey with us.  Our programme is bespoke and follows a creative curriculum approach, assessed according to the British Early Years National Curriculum.  Our methods espouse exploratory learning in these important developmental years and we encourage joyful learning through a multi-disciplinary cross-curricular activity.  Progress is monitored formatively throughout your child’s time in the EYFS and documented in an online, photographic journal through which observations are sent home to you on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

Year 1 and Year 2 complete Key Stage 1 (Nursery, Reception, Year 1, Year 2)

Key Stage 2 is made up of Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6. All students from Year 1 to Year 6 follow the Cambridge Primary Curriculum with an emphasis on covering core topics that include English, Mathematics, Science, along with a new subject called Global Perspectives that also offers the flexibility to explore Indian culture and heritage in the Arts.

Key Stage 3 includes Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 and offers the Cambridge Lower Secondary Curriculum, building on the success of the Primary years. It provides an all-round preparation for the Cambridge Upper Secondary.

Key Stage 4 is for students in Year 10 and Year 11, who begin to make important subject choices as they prepare for the world-wide gold standard International General Secondary Certificate of Education (IGCSE). This qualification is internationally recognized, paving the way to Universities and Colleges in India and around the world.
